How to take a cash payment

The guest is ready to pay with cash. Open their table, choose Cash, type what they gave you, and TekDot shows the change and prints the receipt.

6 steps About 1 minute Cashier, manager or anyone allowed to take payments

Before you start: a shift (work period) should be running so the cash is counted in today's drawer. Not sure? See How to start a shift.

Step 1: Tap the table that wants to pay

Open Tables from the home screen. Tables with an open order are red. Tap the table that is ready to pay.

  1. A red table has an open bill. Tap it to open the order.

Step 2: Check the bill, then tap Process Payment

The order opens with every item and the total. Check it with the guest.

  1. The total the guest has to pay.
  2. Print Receipt — print the bill first if the guest wants to check it (optional).
  3. Tap Process Payment.

Step 3: The payment screen opens

You see the amount to pay and all your payment methods.

  1. The total amount. The amount in Riel is shown underneath.
  2. Is the guest paying in Riel? Tap KHR. Paying in dollars? Leave it on USD.

Step 4: Tap Cash

Tap Cash. The cash screen opens.

  1. Cash — for notes and coins handed over by the guest.

Step 5: Enter the cash received and tap Complete Payment

Type how much cash the guest gave you. TekDot works out the change for you.

  1. Amount to apply — already filled in with the full bill. Leave it as it is.
  2. Amount tendered — the cash the guest gave you (for example 200).
  3. Or tap a quick button ($200, $300…). Red buttons are less than the bill and cannot be used. Exact for this amount = the guest paid the exact total.
  4. Change to return — give this back to the guest. It is also shown in Riel.
  5. Tap Complete Payment.

Paying part in cash and the rest another way? Type the cash part in Amount to apply, tap Complete Payment, then choose the next payment method for what is left.

Step 6: Receipt prints and the table is free again

The payment is saved and the receipt is sent to the receipt printer automatically. The receipt shows the payment method, the cash received and the change.

  1. Sent to Receipt Printer — the receipt is printing.
  2. The receipt: items, total, Cash, Tendered and Change.
  3. QR code — the guest can scan it to see the receipt on their phone.
  4. Print Receipt — print another copy if needed.
  5. Tap ✕ to close. You go back to Tables and the table is available again.

Don't need this preview? Owners can turn it off in Settings → Receipt Management → Show receipt preview after payment. The receipt still prints.

Payment done

The bill is paid, the receipt is printed and the table is free for the next guests. The cash is added to this shift's totals.

Common questions

The guest is paying in Khmer Riel

On the payment screen, tap KHR before you tap Cash. Amounts are then shown in Riel, and the change is shown in both currencies.

The guest pays part cash, part card or QR

On the cash screen, type only the cash part in Amount to apply and tap Complete Payment. Then choose the next payment method (for example QR ABA) for the rest.

Why are some quick buttons red?

They are smaller than the bill, so they cannot pay it. Type the amount yourself or use a bigger note.

I closed the payment screen by mistake

Nothing was charged. Tap the table again and tap Process Payment to start over.

The receipt did not print

Check the receipt printer is on and has paper, then tap Print Receipt on the receipt preview to print it again.
